Graphic Designer/Marketing Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:  The person in this position is responsible for helping to create the brand message on a seasonal basis in conjunction with upper management.  He/She is a key individual responsible for concepting, creating, developing and producing all marketing materials to further embed the brand in the eyes of our distributors, retail partners and consumers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design:

  • Ability to bring new campaign ideas to the table.
  • Strong Graphic Design and typography skill set.
  • Eagerness to collaborate and accept creative direction and critique.
  • Works together with other marketing team members to create, design and produce professional and high quality large and small format print materials.
  • Develops and designs social media content on a weekly basis.
  • Prepares visual materials for use in branding and other sales presentations.
  • Prepares and sends visual materials for use by international distributors and domestic sales representatives.
  • Creates and follows up on printing quotes for proposed marketing materials.
  • Fulfills and follows up on daily requests (for marketing materials, images, ads, etc.).
  • Assists with all aspects of local model photo shoots – from developing concepts/mood boards, to planning, to executing.
  • Assists with all aspects of local product photo shoots – for example, gathering products to be shot, steaming, creating shot lists, aiding at the actual shoot, returning garments to appropriate department upon conclusion of the shoot, etc.
  • Assist with all aspects of seasonal website updates.
  • Prepares on-model and laydown photos for use in printed mediums.
  • Works with other Summit Resource International employees to prioritize the various in-house aspects of marketing and sales, in a manner that keeps the overall best interests of the company as the top priority
  • Works with international distributors, sales representatives, customers and others as applicable, in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner to establish and maintain productive relationships.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with Summit Resource International employees and others doing business with Summit Resource International.
  • Acts as a positive role model through hard work, fairness, flexibility, commitment and communication. 
  • Acts as a responsible team member.
  • Exhibits friendliness toward and consideration of customers, employees, international distributors and sales representatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in this field.
  • 3-5 years of graphic design experience preferred.
  • Experience working with product and consumer goods-based business preferred.
  • Experience with Mac computer systems and software required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Mac-based Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Graphic design and/or fine art experience as evidenced by competent visual portfolio.
  • Photo/video production skillset preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record and proof of auto insurance in compliance with state law.
  • Ability to gain significant knowledge of the role of the Design and Marketing Department in the production of garments.
  • Ability to be flexible to meet the company’s needs.
  • Supervised by the Marketing Manager.
  • Has daily contact with marketing, design, product development and merchandising employees.
  • Has frequent contact with sales representatives and international distributors.
  • Has intermittent contact with other Summit Resource International employees.

Production:
Must be willing and eager to manage basic productions tasks like cropping, resizing, file re-formatting requests, etc. Not all projects will be creative development.

General:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
·      Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environment; willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks.
·      Working knowledge of digital file formats.  Ability to learn and use Summit Resource International software.
·      Ability to understand visual and marketing objectives and successfully communicate them to others.
·      Ability to maintain confidential information.
·      Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations and manage conflicts in a professional and efficient manner.
·      Exceptional time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
·      Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other staff, customers, and partners.
·      Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a variety of individuals, including sales representatives, international distributors, customers, other Summit Resource International employees, supervisors and community members. Ability to communicate effectively with people who speak English as a second language.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

LEVEL OF INDEPENDENT DISCRETION, CONSEQUENCE OF ACTIONS:  This person exercises a relatively high level of independence in decision-making.  Significant errors in judgment may adversely affect Summit Resource International employees and may cause serious financial and/or legal repercussions for Summit Resource International.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:  May be required to alter scheduled hours or days off as necessary to accommodate workload.  Physical effort is required to stand, walk, bend and sit for extended periods of time, including in front of a computer screen, and to carry samples, packages and presentation materials.  Must be able to lift 25 pounds.  May experience exposure to spray adhesive and other art media/materials.  Stress and exposure to difficult vendor, customer and employee situations may be encountered.

Graphic Designer

Job Description
Signs Now in Helena, is a fast paced, full service design, and print shop. We need a designer who understands print, layout and file formats. The designer will be designing signs, banners, decals, graphics and all sorts of design projects that walk through the door. This designer must know the basics, of branding and signage, as they will be directly and indirectly in charge of the look and feel of several Helena area small businesses. This is a great opportunity for the right person. This designer will be the only designer, and in charge of all artwork coming out of our shop. In saying that, you must be able to work on many projects of varying scopes with different due dates, and able to keep the job flow running smoothly. The designer sets up files for print, using die cuts, spot colors, and optimizes artwork for printing, as well as outsourcing printing through vendors. The designer manages the use of a printer, and vinyl plotter. 

The designer is in charge of the installation of vinyl graphics, on business’ and vehicles. Experience installing is preferred but not required. Other responsibilities will include but not limited to helping with phone, customers and table work (Weeding, taping vinyl & prints etc. Basic Sign Shop stuff).

Software Competency
1. Create Artwork using the creative suite (Illustrator 80%, Photoshop 15%, InDesign 5%). Must be proficient in each of these applications. Must be able to explain, and example the ability to use these three applications in concert with each other. 

2. Create large format signs, posters, banners, decals, vehicle graphics.  

3. Must be able to example a working knowledge of file formats, and be able to explain the differences to clients and customers.

4. Create artwork with die cuts for printing out custom shapes. Create artwork using both process colors, and spot colors.  

5. Familiar with creating press ready files, for print in house, and outsourcing. 


Communication / Job Flow
1. Create large format designs that are readable and within the clients desires.

2. Must work well with customers, and clients. 

3. Communicate abilities and capabilities, as well as limitations of printing with the client.

4. The ability to work on multiple jobs in different stages of development. 

5. The ability to meet deadlines and work under a time crunch.


Graphics Application
1. Recommended to have a familiarity with the application of vinyl graphics, for windows, and vehicles. The designer is in charge of the installation of graphics.

We are looking for a full-time Graphic Designer based at our Belgrade, Montana office. Starting pay: $14- $15/hour. 

Required skills 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop (version CC)
    Helpful but not required (can train on the job)

    Part-time Graphic Designer, 10.50 per hour

    Work in one of the most coveted departments on campus! The student in this position will design and generate brochures, flyers, electronic banners and marketing materials for Rec Sports & Fitness programs under the direct supervision of the Media Info Specialist. This position serves the Marga Hosaeus Fitness Center and Outdoor Recreation.

    Position Description
    Assists with marketing projects, specifically in designing, creating and publishing printed and electronic material, such as yearly brochures, intramural flyers, Res Life newsletters, Outdoor Rec trip posters, t-shirt designs, and special event marketing. The person in this position will be a member of the Rec Sports Design Team which consists of two graphic designers, a photographer, a web manager, two social media/PR people, and a facility artist/assistant.

    Qualifications
    Must have: Knowledge of and experience in graphic design; knowledge of and proficiency using Adobe Suite; ability to organize and prioritize work while juggling several projects at once; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to work with and take direction from professional staff; ability to meet deadlines; good communication skills and ability to project professional image; established design portfolio. Current graphic design student preferred.

    Messengers for Health/MSU

    Student designer

    We are looking for a student to design print materials to be used in a health-related community-based intervention project. The project is a collaboration between an Indigenous non-profit organization (Messengers for Health) and MSU. The purpose of the grant-funded project is to improve chronic illness management among Apsáalooke (Crow) Indians in Montana through a community-based intervention. All work will be done in collaboration with community members. Cultural sensitivity and humility are important.

    Materials to be developed include graphic data representations, visuals for stories, and health-related intervention materials.

    TASKS

    • Have a college degree in business, marketing, graphic design, computer science, and/or a field that brings value to what we do.
    • Have marketing agency experience, or otherwise some real-world, professional work experience that relates to what we do.
    • Be extremely well-organized, self-motivated, hard-working, have a zippy personality, and be excited to be part of a uniquely fun but dedicated small office environment.
    • Be very comfortable with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel), a good typist, a decent writer, reasonably good at math and general analysis of information, and most of all an excellent communicator.
    • Be very interested in design and how things look, how visuals relate to marketing and sales, and have a desire to be a part of a team creating effective and compelling marketing and communications for a range of local and national businesses.
