Design Intern

Schedule: Part time, with a preference for plus/minus 20 hours per week. Position to begin mid-December and is contracted through to the end of Spring semester 2010.
Wage: $9/hour, paid every other week
Overall duties include answering phones, assisting in managing projects (may include researching, creating design orders, requesting printing quotes, sourcing images, copywriting, gathering an¬d organizing client-supplied content, etc.), design proofing, proofreading, strategic collaboration with the BHC team, and working directly and indirectly with clients and creative outsources to ensure a timely, high-quality final product. Also, completing general administrative duties that need to be done to move Brickhouse forward, which includes running general errands, purchasing office supplies, taking out the trash and helping do the dishes, watering plants, snack inventory management, setting up and managing office accounts, etc.
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate for our marketing internship must be:
•A junior or above in marketing, business, and/or graphic design
• Interested in design and how things look, how graphics relate to marketing and sales, and has a desire to be a part of a team creating effective and compelling marketing for a range of local and national businesses
• Organized, very familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel), a good typist, a decent writer, reasonably good at math and general analysis of information, and an excellent communicator
• Self-motivated, hard working, have a zippy personality, and be excited to be part of a uniquely fun small office environment
• Willing to do whatever needed to forward the company’s goals, from answering phones to concepting comprehensive ad campaigns, with a smile on his/her face
It would be a ‘plus’ if the candidate was:
• Experienced in the any of the Adobe Creative Suite design programs (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop primarily)
• If the candidate is studying graphic design, there is the possibility of doing some design work (logos, etc.) as time and capabilities allow. First priority is on general office/project management tasks
• Experienced in or has an interest or knowledge of web programming and development (html and/or Flash)
• Experienced or interested in photography or video
