Graphic Designer
The Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing and producing material that supports both Murdoch’s stores and the home office. This position requires creativity while working within the Murdoch’s brand. The Graphic Designer has a solid command of all design and production programs, strong organizational skills, and thrives in the dynamic nature of an in-house marketing/advertising department by adapting to ever changing priorities, needs and workflow.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Creative
• Brainstorming and mocking up design ideas
• Exceptional ability to design, produce and manage projects including newspaper flyers, print advertising, direct mail, posters, signage, promotional materials, etc.
• Understands the fundamental principles of graphic design and layout including color, image manipulation, production and composition
• Artistic ability and creativity while being true to the Murdoch’s brand
Production
• Printing sign packages and store support efficiently
• Packing and shipping store support materials
• Digital asset management of photos, logos, product information, etc.
• Awareness of professional file preparation including pre-press packaging, color management (CMYK and RGB) for print and web usage
Technology
• Advanced knowledge and skills using Adobe Creative Suite 3 or newer to execute designs
• Basic understanding of web design and ability to update intranet and web as needed
• Basic knowledge and use of fireworks and dreamweaver preferred but not required
• Must be able to design on a PC
• Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Other
• Effectively present ideas – both verbally and visually.
• Meet deadlines and budgets
• Must understand the Murdoch’s brand and protect it
• Must be dependable with good follow through
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with Murdoch’s creative team and other stakeholders
