Design Assistant

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a temporary, full-time Design Assistant who will work with Exhibit Designers in the design of exhibits, environments, and graphics in two and three dimensions.

The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the design and production processes, strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, demonstrate proficiency in sketching, computer aided design (CAD), and Adobe Creative Suites applications (expert knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator), working knowledge of two- and three-dimensional design, ability to work with vendors and freelance designers, and the ability to work with other designers as team member and other department staff as work group member.

Candidate must also have a Bachelor's degree in Exhibit Design, Environmental Design, Architecture or Industrial Design or equivalent combination of education and experience, a minimum 1 year of coordination and project management skills, minimum three years experience in exhibit design or similar field, and pass pre-employment and/or pre-duty checks, such as a criminal background check and reference checks.

Position is open until filled.
Pay Range: $29,432 - $36,760 per year.
