Graphic Designer

Job Description
Signs Now in Helena, is a fast paced, full service design, and print shop. We need a designer who understands print, layout and file formats. The designer will be designing signs, banners, decals, graphics and all sorts of design projects that walk through the door. This designer must know the basics, of branding and signage, as they will be directly and indirectly in charge of the look and feel of several Helena area small businesses. This is a great opportunity for the right person. This designer will be the only designer, and in charge of all artwork coming out of our shop. In saying that, you must be able to work on many projects of varying scopes with different due dates, and able to keep the job flow running smoothly. The designer sets up files for print, using die cuts, spot colors, and optimizes artwork for printing, as well as outsourcing printing through vendors. The designer manages the use of a printer, and vinyl plotter. 

The designer is in charge of the installation of vinyl graphics, on business’ and vehicles. Experience installing is preferred but not required. Other responsibilities will include but not limited to helping with phone, customers and table work (Weeding, taping vinyl & prints etc. Basic Sign Shop stuff).

Software Competency
1. Create Artwork using the creative suite (Illustrator 80%, Photoshop 15%, InDesign 5%). Must be proficient in each of these applications. Must be able to explain, and example the ability to use these three applications in concert with each other. 

2. Create large format signs, posters, banners, decals, vehicle graphics.  

3. Must be able to example a working knowledge of file formats, and be able to explain the differences to clients and customers.

4. Create artwork with die cuts for printing out custom shapes. Create artwork using both process colors, and spot colors.  

5. Familiar with creating press ready files, for print in house, and outsourcing. 


Communication / Job Flow
1. Create large format designs that are readable and within the clients desires.

2. Must work well with customers, and clients. 

3. Communicate abilities and capabilities, as well as limitations of printing with the client.

4. The ability to work on multiple jobs in different stages of development. 

5. The ability to meet deadlines and work under a time crunch.


Graphics Application
1. Recommended to have a familiarity with the application of vinyl graphics, for windows, and vehicles. The designer is in charge of the installation of graphics.
