Interweave Press is seeking a strong Designer to conceptualize, coordinate and design our books. You will be part of a dynamic, creative book team that specializes in creating illustrated how-to books for enthusiasts in the areas of knitting/crochet, fiber arts, and beading/jewelry making.
Responsibilities
• Conceptualize covers and interiors of books and sales spreads that are creative, comprehensive and contemporary in feel.
• Collaborate with editorial, sales and production to create the books while meeting deadlines and objectives.
• Bring a cutting-edge design sense to every project by keeping up with industry and design trends while maintaining brand awareness.
• Help coordinate photoshoots to achieve high-quality, creative imagery for each title.
Requirements
• Must have 5 years experience in book or magazine design or equivalent experience.
• High proficiency in CS4 - InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• A full knowledge and love for typography and exceptional design skills.
• Creative conceptual thinking.
• An ability to be innovative in both design and process.
• Experience managing multiple projects, adapting to changing schedules and working under tight time constraints.
• Photoshoot experience.
• Rigorous attention to detail and overall commitment to quality.
• Must work well independently as well as have ability to collaborate effectively within a creative team.
• Thorough knowledge of pre-press processes and print production.
