Junior Web Designer
Nickelodeon, a children's cable channel under the parent company MTV, is looking for a junior web designer to support the Design Director, Associate Design Director and Web Designers. The person in this position would be responsible for creating promos and other templated graphics, simple webpage layout and, supporting design lead designers on large projects, and supporting design integrity while assisting in overall graphical support for Nickelodeon websites.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for creating thumbnails, promo touts and other regularly requested templated items for all of the nick sites in our catalog.
• Create downloads, printables, flipbooks, resize of images, and create background skins to support shows and promotional campaigns on the site.
• Full page design and layout on simpler web projects.
• Assist lead designers on large projects as necessary.
• Works with Web Designers and Directors to support existing designs with additional graphics and layouts, and also in the cutting up and prepping of assets for development.
• Create additional icons, navigational graphics, and updated and additional elements based on existing templates.
• Organize assets and place images correctly on the servers. Be able to take freelance/vendor art, cut and size correctly, and place where it belongs on the server for Producer access.
• Adhere to conceptual and design standards established by Design Director and/or Associate Art Director
• Develop multiple design solutions for diverse design challenges
• Capable of working with established Nickelodeon brands as well as original material
• Research and develop tools to aid in web design
• Keep up to date with current and emerging relevant trends in the online medium
• Keep up to date with current and emerging Web design trends
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 year experience in web page design, graphic content design, and concept development.
• Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, dream weaver, and image production applications.
• Must be organized and detail oriented with good follow through skills.
• Excellent design sensibility is crucial, and knowledge of interactive design and page layout is a must, including UI, layout, and page composition.
• Must be able to complete assignments in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
• Able to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proven ability to operate independently with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Strong knowledge and experience with the online medium.
• Strong business ethics.
