Production Designer
This is a two-year term position.
General Description:
Works closely with brand project coordinator and ad coordinator to ensure the timely and effective delivery of well-constructed files to publishers. Assists with other departmental production jobs on an as-needed basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Handles the digital and print publication production process, with an emphasis on advertising-related projects.
+ Creates the final layouts from design roughs.
+ Creates the final files that image properly to printer specifications in digital and print applications.
+ Oversees the publication process through production, including scheduling, pre-press work, delivery files, digital production and completion.
+ Communicates effectively with outside publication vendors.
+ Labels and stores large quantities of diverse files.
+ Other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
+ Associates degree required, BA preferred.
+ Two to three years' related experience, preferably in a graphic design office or advertising agency.
+ Technical skills: Good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite for Print and Web (web production experience—especially Flash—is helpful, not mandatory). Sensitive to typography and layout, with an understanding of color in digital and print applications. A strong understanding of graphic tools, procedures and print technology.
+ Personal skills and characteristics: An organized project manager able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and eager to learn. Meticulous about detail. A team player who maintains calm under pressure. A good communicator with good listening skills. Cooperative and collaborative with clients, vendors and staff. Has a strong commitment to quality and to the Shedd’s mission.
